Q.How do you get work at Travel Channel, National Geographic as a travel photographer? Or as anything?Related Search:
Photography
I want to work for travel channel, it must be my job to travel the world. Im studying film directing and taking photography courses. How and where do you think i should get a job that will allow me to travel? Thanks a mil...
A.Photographers for National Geographic are at the top of their field. Don't expect to get an offer right out of photography school. Look for a job that pays the rent first. Having discouraged you, let me say that there is hope. I attended one of their seminars, which was an excellent orientation to the field. Here is the link to the schedule: [Link] /. In the one I attended, there was a section for pitching ideas. If they heard something that sounded interesting then they pursued it. They seek the kind of imagery that tells a story. It's not the stuff you can buy in a postcard store. So travel and bring your camera. Look for the unique, rare, or surprising and which conveys an emotion or evokes one in the viewer. Build up your experience. Hone your skills. Be self-critical. A good photographer can get a winning shot with a 3 megapixel camera, while a hack will still get junk from an $8,000 DSLR.

Q.Anyone know where I can find the travel channel special about Disneyworld at Christmas?Related Search:
Amusement Parks
I am looking for a special that aired on the travel channel on Christmas eve about Christmas at Disneyworld. I believe it was hosted by Samantha Brown. I wasn't able to find it on the travel channel's webpage. Any ideas?
A.I saw that show on December 14th, 2003. I don't expect it to be on any time in the moth coming, but plan on it around the Holiday season, starting from Thanksgiving-Christmas. Around that time I'll go onto my search mode on my DVR and type in "Disney" and look at the options. The show you are speaking of is titled "Walt Disney World Holidays". I have this show recorded onto my DVR and it's very enjoyable! Samantha Brown gives a very detailed account of all that goes on during the Holiday season. The thing I love about the Travel Channel is that they air a show almost 10 times every two days. So if you miss some of it, plan on it being aired in another hour or so. Wait until the holiday season, and then start sarching. I remember it being on frequently. Best of Luck! -cap10hook72-

Q.How can I contact TV producers to pitch an idea I have for the Travel Channel?Related Search:
Other - Destinations
I have a good idea for a show that I think would fit well on the Travel Channel. However, I've heard that they only accept pitches if you already have a production company to work with. Does anyone know of any production companies who deal with this kind of thing?
A.Perhaps you can use a film or movie club from the local university, or even one of the related academic departments to help get your idea noticed, or even picked up. Local Public Access Television might be a viable place to start. Many of the "niche channels" (History, Food, etc) pick up shows and ideas from places like local tv stations and university groups. Another way would be to form a "club" yourself to actually start producing and orienting your idea. You don't have to film anything, just set up the logistics and general accounting, and maybe block out some episodes with a rough script and some research. These days all it takes is desire to be heard and effort to make it happen.

A.Paula Dean's restaurant in Savanah GA, is the bomb, it's called The Lady and Son's. I would highly recommend it. The little town is a great get away as well.

A.Not broadcast journalism, but musical theater, which just proves it doesn't really matter what you major in, as long as you have the right personality for the job.

The Travel Channel is a cable television network that features documentaries and how-to shows related to travel and leisure around the United States and throughout the world. Programming has included shows in African animal safaris, tours of grand hotels, and visits to significant cities and towns, with recent programming putting an emphasis on how the rich travel and on "haunted" destinations, like Most Haunted.

It was launched by Trans World Airlines in 1987, presumably to boost airline attendance, subsequently being sold to Landmark Communications, owner of The Weather Channel, and later Paxson Communications. Discovery bought 70% of the network in 1997, acquiring the rest in 1999. In May 2007, Discovery sold Travel Channel to Cox Enterprises subsidiary Cox Communications as part of a larger multi-billion dollar transaction. [1]. However, Discovery Communications still distributes the channel under Discovery Networks.

In the United States, the Travel Channel has more than 89 million subscribers.[2]

In countries where a totally separate Travel Channel based in the UK operates, the Discovery Travel Channel operates as Discovery Travel & Living.

On May 12, 2008, the channel began offering a high definition simulcast on Dish Network.[citation needed]

Travel Channel launched a mobile web service and GPS-capable downloads for mobile devices in June, 2008.[3]

The Travel Channel is headquartered in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
