Q.	How do I make my CSS web template compatible with all web hosts?	Related Search: Programming & Design
	I have been experimenting with designing CSS web templates with the intention to sell them. I am getting pretty good, but I want to make sure they are compatible with as many hosting sites as possible. Are most standard CSS templates compatible with hosts or is there something else I should be doing? Thanks in advance.
A.	it's not the site. css is parsed by each browser. you might already have heard the term "browser compliant". as a web programmer you have to test against the major versions of the various browsers out there. one way to ease this is to use the w3c's own validator to make sure you are using standard and error-less code.

	I downloaded one that is copyright free. It gave me a file filled wtih sliced up images, and a stylesheet with the CSS. Where do I go from here? The main image is split up, which I don't understand.
A.	hum.. this is one of those thing that I can explain better Visually. But let me try. CSS is like a Code, which you link to <head> of your webpage. CSS has all styles defined in it, like Color, font type, where to use which color, like use black in body, font size in body etc. This way you don't have to define all this stuff in every single page and makes easy to edit. Template you downloaded. Just upload it as it on your webserver. Check all html codes for it, look around and you will understand it better. Than you can start modifying it. and yes, From template you have downloaded, Edit it's index file, and see how css link is place in it's header.

	Any help on this topic would be greatful..I am looking for a vast number of templates I can choose from from YOUR best websites you all visit and like and would like to recommend. I am looking for CSS, FLASH, and regular html webpage templates..Thanks in advance Chris
A.	If you have dreamweaver, it comes with several templates and you can download sample website templates from Adobe. To see the templates, select "new document". under the "general" tab select "starter pages" or "page designs" - both are templates. For CSS, select "page designs (css)" or CSS Style Sheets in the same area. Flash has the same feature. You can also buy sets of website and flash templates on eBay - generally they cost less that $5 for 500 templates. 90% is junk, but the other 10% is worth your $1.

	Basically I'm a pretty competent designer but I'm just wondering how to make website templates in the style of the ones on places like templatemonster etc? Do I have to know CSS or another language, or is it possible to do it in HTML or without any scripting language whatsoever?
A.	No... It is possible to create web templates with just HTML, however I wouldn't recommend it. CSS is now the web standard for laying out web pages (as defined by the W3C - [Link] ). CSS designs are much more flexible and have a much faster load time. If you are serious about creating templates then you definitely should learn CSS and if you already know HTML then it wont take you long to master. W3Schools isn't a bad place to start - [Link] good luck!

	I want it to look different from the other typical layouts, with different structure, for example each section on tabs, not everything right there on the same page. Designer look. Don't give me links to myspace layouts because that's not what i'm asking
A.	Login to your MySpace account. The go to "Edit profile". You can add CSS tags in the various entries. You'd do that using a tag like: <style type=text/css> ....put your CSS style stuff here </style> You can do things like set the font uising: p { color:FF2222; font-size:12pt; font-family:Arial; font-weight:bold; }

	I'm trying to use the free CSS-based template here for a site: [Link] / Could someone please define for me exactly what values in the CSS declarations denote the positions and width of the page as a whole and the columns? I'm trying to adjust the width of each column to fit neatly in the browser and with each other, but some of the styles seem to have multiple width attributes and I'm not sure which to adjust. Help! Thanks.
A.	html>body #fullpage and #fullpage correspond with the width of the entire page html>body #lpanel and #lpanel corresponds with the width of the left column. But you have to look at the left margin (margin-left) of html>body #center and #center to see how far from the left side of the page the center column is. The width for the center is also here. The same goes for the right column. Just look at the margin-left of that to adjust its distance from the left side of the page. The same goes as above with the width.

	I am very much a beginner in this stuff and i want to create a website myself. Also the layout. i m nt interested in using free web builders available. So if someone can help me out with this issue. if any tutorials available with this so that i can learn to read css and create the layout.
