Q.What makes a vehicle jerk while driving up hill?Related Search:
Safety
Well, for the past 3 months I've been taking my for expedition to a ford company and I've been telling the service people my vehicle is jerking after driving off from traffic lights , stops signs, or driving upward hills. This has not happen before. Something is wrong with my vehicle. If I start to drive off the vehicle will stall then jerk and take off. This is dangerous to me.But, the company tells me to wait until the red light come on , because we don't see a problem
A.That sounds typical of car dealers. I suppose it is difficult to diagnose, but it sounds to me like they just giving you the run-around. You need to INSIST that they take a test drive with you in the vehicle. As you say it's dangerous and you could possibly be involved in an accident before the check engine light ever comes on. It could be a clogged fuel line, dirty filter or any number of things, but unless they experience it themselves they might not be able to find the problem.

Q.What happens if a stolen vehicle is found after you collect from insurance?Related Search:
Insurance
What happens in a situation if you have a stolen vehicle and time goes by and it hasn't been recovered. You collect money from your insurance company for you loss and spend that money on another vehicle or whatever. What happens if your stolen vehicle is found AFTER you collect that insurance money. Is is still considered your vehicle and returned to you? Does it belong to the insurance company? Would you have to pay the insurance company the money back in order to get your stolen vehicle that was found? Could the owner of that vehicle ever have the option of having that vehicle back if recovered after collecting from the insurance? Or is it considered no one's vehicle anymore after a certain amount of time?
A.The vehicle legally belongs to the insurance company. If the vehicle is wrecked they will sell it for salvage. If it's still in one piece they will sell it. You may be able to keep the vehicle, however you will have to pay back the money the insurer gave you if the vehicle is still in the same condition, or you will have to pay the insurer the salvage value.

Q.What is the best vehicle to drive on a rural route for the Post Office / Postal Service?Related Search:
Financial Services
I took the exam and have interviewed and will know in the next day whether I'm hired. My question is what is the best vehicle or vehicle(s) to drive on a rural route? If I'm hired I will probably goto training in a week and want to make sure I have the appropriate vehicle to drive with.
A.I believe Saturn makes a right side driving car. If you have a rural route with the post office, I also think that you can deduct the purchase price from your taxes as a work expense.

Q.Can an automatic transmission driven vehicle be started by achieving a certain speed if coasting?Related Search:

What speed if any will have to be achieved to start the vehicle. If it cannot be started in this fashion, what change or adjustment can be made to enable it to do so? I do not have problems with a vehicle starting. I am researching the development of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle at the individual level.
A.What I know is that the answer is NO.

Q.What vehicle information is inspected when traveling from the US to Canada?Related Search:
Other - Destinations
If I were to drive to canada from Michigan, What vehicle information is required at the border checks? i.e.... Title,Proof of Insurance, Regristration? Also, If I were to ferry my vehicle from USA to Canada, What is required? My time in canada is only for two days for business. Corporate Debt Collections. I just baught my vehicle and dont have the regristration/insurance. I have my ID, Passport, Title to vehicle. What else?
A.Traveling on business CAN change things, depending on the border official and point of crossing. Get your insurer to fax you a temporary slip, proof of insurance is imperative, and a photocopy of registration will suffice. YOU MUST HAVE BOTH. Not so much just to cross the border, but to drive in Canada. Do not tell the border guard the nature of your trip other then "meeting with clients." Their authority cannot be challenged, and nobody likes debt collectors, period.

Q.What type of vehicle can pull a 30' travel trailer and haul 7 passengers?Related Search:
Safety
I want to be able to take my family on vacations without an extra vehicle and pull a Jayco camper at the same time. But want a vehicle big enough. Do not want a dually or a pickup? is this possible?
A.At most, crew cab pickups only have 6 seats, and the 6th seat would be located in between the driver and the passenger in the front row - not ideal for kids. For your needs I'd recommend a big SUV. Here are some options: 1. Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Yukon 2. Toyota Sequoia 3. Ford Expedition 4. Nissan Armada Out of those, I'd recommend the Chevy/GMC or the Toyota. The GMC/Chevy could probably tow more than the Toyota, and also it is probably a bit more fit for towing. The Toyota can definitely do the job, but I put it up there because you may like imports too. The Nissan would be okay as well, but the reliability history for it is pretty bad. The Ford could easily do it too, but reliability has been iffy. Both the GMC/Chevy and the Toyota have been redesigned for 2007 or 2008 model years. Personally, out of that, I would choose the GMC Yukon (or Chevy Suburban, which is the same car, just the looks are different and I like the GMC looks better). Click on the links below to find out more information. Edmunds is a car review site. Just search for any of these cars you are interested in and you should find a review and also some videos. Good luck.

Q.What kind of vehicle do I need for a trip to Yellowstone?Related Search:
Other - United States
Hi, I am planning a trip to Yellowstone in the first week of July. I plan to drive a Chevy Malibu. I used a used the same vehicle for a trip to South Dakota this month, and it was good. Is that kinda right? Do I need to have a vehicle with a higher ground clearance? Does it snow a lot in Yellowstone in July?
A.You won't have any snow in July in Yellowstone, it's all melted and the temperatures are quite warm. The Chevy Malibu will work fine.... all roads are paved and driving conditions are "normal".

This article is about the means of transport. For other uses, see Vehicle (disambiguation).
Automobiles are among the most commonly used engine-powered vehicles

Vehicles, derived from the Latin word, vehiculum, are non-living means of transport. Most often they are manufactured (e.g. bicycles, cars, motorcycles, trains, ships, boats, and aircraft), although some other means of transport which are not made by humans also may be called vehicles; examples include icebergs and floating tree trunks.

Vehicles may be propelled or pulled by animals, for instance, a chariot, a stagecoach, a mule-drawn barge, or an ox-cart. However, animals on their own, though used as a means of transport, are not called vehicles, but rather beasts of burden or draft animals. This distinction includes humans carrying another human, for example a child or a disabled person.

A rickshaw is a vehicle that may carry a human and be powered by a human, but it is the mechanical form or cart that is powered by the human that is labeled as the vehicle. For some human-powered vehicles the human providing the power is labeled as a driver.

Vehicles that do not travel on land often are called craft, such as watercraft, sailcraft, aircraft, hovercraft, and spacecraft

Land vehicles are classified broadly by what is used to apply steering and drive forces against the ground: wheeled, tracked, railed, or skied.

[edit] Legislation

[edit] European Union

In the European Union the classifications for vehicle types are defined by [1]:

  • Commission Directive 2001/116/EC of 20 December 2001, adapting to technical progress Council Directive 70/156/EEC on the approximation of the laws of the Member States relating to the type-approval of motor vehicles and their trailers[2]
  • Directive 2002/24/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 March 2002 relating to the type-approval of two or three-wheeled motor vehicles and repealing Council Directive 92/61/EEC

European Community, is based on the Community's WVTA (whole vehicle type-approval) system. Under this system, manufacturers can obtain certification for a vehicle type in one Member State if it meets the EC technical requirements and then market it EU-wide with no need for further tests. Total technical harmonization already has been achieved in three vehicle categories (passenger cars, motorcycles, and tractors) and soon will be extended to other vehicle categories (coaches and utility vehicles). It is essential that European car manufacturers be ensured access to as large a market as possible.

While the Community type-approval system allows manufacturers to benefit fully from the opportunities offered by the internal market, worldwide technical harmonization in the context of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) offers them a market which extends beyond European borders.
