| | A. | After a 6 week hiatus, One Tree Hill was back this week and didn't waste any time in resolving its cliff-hangers. In the first minute of the episode it was revealed that Peyton was indeed preggers. Not a surprise yet a relief to all those who believed she had cancer. Upon learning of the news, Peyton called Lucas in happy hysterics. "I was thinking maybe I start calling you my baby daddy," she said. There was no easing into the bomb she was about to drop on Lucas but he was actually okay with it, in fact both were very okay with their impending parenthood.
Next there was good news and bad. Nathan got the call he's been waiting for, that he's the newest point guard for the Charleston Chiefs. Unfortunately across town, Mouth and Millicent had broken up. He tells Skillz about what happened and Skillz, who can be both sweet and pervy all at the same time, told him that he knew Gigi was trouble. "Always wanting you to work late and what comes after working late? Freaky deaky." Mouth doesn't find this too funny though as he's extremely disappointed in himself for what happened. "Maybe I deserve to lose her." Out cute little couple may officially be on the outs.
Meanwhile, Brooke is still searching for Sam who's found shelter at her buddy Jack's. But we all know who his brother is, as disclosed in the last minute of the last episode. When Sam tries to leave the next morning she realizes that she's in for some major trouble because the brother is not too thrilled with her for going through his stuff and taking Brooke's sketches. Even though she explains she didn't rat him out, he's not happy and when Jack comes to her defense, he gets beaten by his brother.
Lucas heads over to meet with the studio at Julian's urging, in order to save the movie. The executive, Paul Norris, explains to Luke that they need a new producer because Julian is "unpredictable" and "a loose cannon whose arrogance gets in the way of doing his job." "So why do you keep working with him?" Lucas asks. "Because he's my son." Ah, so there's a new twist. But daddy isn't so supportive and continues to belittle Julian to Lucas. He then brings up a sore subject by asking Lucas if Julian is really interested in making a good movie or finding a way to get Peyton back. I think it's a little bit of both.
Looks like the excitement of Nathan's new team will soon wear off because his teammates aren't going to make it easy for him. Nathan meets his new nemesis, Nevon Fox, who is quick to point out that the number 23 is already taken. He then says to Nate, aren't you a #2 guard to which Nathan tells him that he's switching to the point. "Well move, I'm the point guard and this is my team." Nathan is in for some major competition, especially when he gets benched at practice. And even when he goes to his locker only to find that his family picture has been torn, he remains strong. "I'm taking your spot because I'm better than you. But here's the good news, when I get called up to the NBA you can have your job back," he tells Nevon. I love the new and improved Nathan Scott.
There were several references to Quentin in this episode. The scenes between Jamie and Q's brother Andre were not only adorable but also so sad. All Andre wanted was for his mom to stop crying and since she wouldn't take him to the gravesite, he had to sneak out with Jamie who explains to Andre that his Haley says, "Sometimes people have to cry out all the tears to make for a heart full of smiles." How is this boy so wise? Andre brought Quentin his favorite cookies and just as he says hi to his big brother, his mom frantically finds them. Andre tells her that he just wanted to ask Q to let her know that he was alright so that she wouldn't be sad anymore. Heart-breaking scene.
After Skillz's urging of the two to speak, Millicent tells Mouth that she's sorry. But she's quickly interrupted when Mouth says "You have nothing to feel sorry about...if you'll give me another chance I'll do whatever it takes to have you back in my life because you're the best part of me Millicent, you're the best part of us." But from heart-warming to heart-breaking. "I had sex last night," Millicent admits. So she did sleep with Owen. She tells him that she was drunk and it was a mistake but that's the end of it, and Mouth walks out.
Chase also paid a visit to help out his friend Owen who had gone back to the bottle. He calls Owen an idiot for drinking but offers to cover for him at the bar so that he can get help. Will the return of Chase stir up some new love triangles?
Back to Sam. Brooke remembers that Jack is a good friend of hers so she goes to his house to find her. And what a creeper she finds. She starts asking about Jack's whereabouts and the brother gets all weird. You'd think that would be Brooke's sign to get out of there but the new Brooke seems un-phased. So she leaves. But as he shuts the door he says, "Have a nice night," and immediately triggers her memories of the attack. Sh | | | |
