Q.What is better: Sharp or Technics?Related Search:
Home Theater
Hi, I have been looking for a nice used hi-fi system and I need some advice as to whether technics or sharp is a better brand. The technics set i'm looking at is a seperate component system, while the sharp is a mini hi-fi system. The technics is slightly more expensive but it looks to be better quality - metal construction as opposed to plastic construction.
A.Hi Having had a Sharp hifi in the past they sound not bad you can get problems with not being reliable.I had that but did get it sorted. But any cassette player look for glass ferrite heads as normal sharp heads are very soft and wear quickly and are odd sizes. So i think its Technics if i was picking might last longer. If getting speakers look for european made as the Japanese have a slightly different hearing range so can sound harsh to us .Best to listen to the first if you can.

Q.Can someone give me details about CFL Lamps? What are the benefits of having a CFL Lamp? Which brand to opt?Related Search:
Other - Home & Garden
What is the difference between a CFL lamp and a regular Bulb? What is the difference between CFL Lamp and a Tube light? Do both(CFL and Tube light) these save same amount of power? Do we need to select any particular brand for this which is better than the rest? Please provide technical details like the voltage range in which they work.
A.Hi Smart, To answer your question fully we must consider the amount of light in Lumens and the amount of electricity in watts consumed by each type of lamp. First consider other environmental impacts of using CFL. Around 4 years ago an EU ruling compelled all businesses to dispose of most lamps, including flourescent types in an environmentally considerate manner. This obligation now extends to Joe Public (us!). Yes I know we will all dispose of our old CFL's correctly, but somewhere on this planet there must be an awful big plile of busted CFL's. This will of course be called an authorised dangerous waste site, but it is till here with us and it is a huge depository of the waste products such as mercury from the lamps and other chemicals from the electronics of the lamp control gear. So, CFL's are not the panacea they are made out to be. 90% of my lamps are CFL.s including the outside lights. I know they save me around 75% on my lighting costs. I would advise of the possible pitfalls Make sure you install 10% more light than you need as the light output falls off with age, also the light output will not reach maximum until they are at running temperature. Only use CFL's or other flourescents that have electronic control gear, not a heavy wound choke (inductor) Flicker from these lamps should not be an issue when they are new as the frequency at which they operate is around 20,000 Hz, however, as they age the smoothing capacitor in the power supply of the lamp circuit looses its capacity and the 50Hz mains flicler may become apparent to some more sensitive people. The solution is to change the lamp OR run them off 240V DIRECT CURRENT from a battery supply charged by your wind turbine perhaps. Now to your question, a regular bulb creates light by heating a tungsten wire to white hot. 90% of the energy consumed by the lamp is lost as heat into the surrounding environment. A typical incandecent (ordinary) bulb has an efficacy of 12 to 15 lumens per watt (12 Lm/w). In other words you only get 15 units of light for every unit of electricity you put in. Now compare this with a CFL of a linear fluorescent lamp. this lamp creates light by exciting atoms of mercury vapour, making them give off ultra violet light. This UV then hits the white coating on the inside of the lamp and is converted into the light we see. Very little heat is produced in this process, giving this type of lamp an efficacy of 60 Lm/w which is 4 or 5 times greater than the ordinary bulb. So a 20 watt CFL will give the same light as a 100 watt bulb at one fith of the cost (or electricity used and lower carbon emmissions etc)

Q.If your replacing your Xbox 360 disc drive can you just replace it with any brand?Related Search:
Xbox
I know how to open my Xbox and I know that my disc drive is broken, I know how to take it out but I want to make sure I know every detail. My drive is a Benq drive. Can I replace it with any brand? Also is it just a simple switch or do I have to do it a certain way for it to work. I don't know many technical terms so please make it simple. Thanx :)
A.You're going to need a specific drive from Benq/Lite-On to replace your existing drive. You're going to need to be able to open your XBOX 360 properly and replace the drive with a proper replacement. A drive without proper firmware WILL NOT work. I don't like to advertise, but if you want, you can send me your XBOX 360 and I will replace the drive and send it back to you for $60. You are responsible for shipping costs.

A.I like HP. HP Pavilion DV6-1350US 15.6-Inch Espresso Laptop - Up to 8 Hours of Battery Life works really good [Link]

Q.What is wrong with my Technics reciever? Blown amp?Related Search:
Home Theater
The left channel keeps either not working (no power at all) or works but is fuzzy and acting like the volume is going up and down. Its not the speakers they are brand new and i switched them and still the left channel doesn't work. Also its a Technics SA-EX310, 70 watts per channel, surround sound but im only using the FRONT channels. The speakers are meant to have 100 watts RMS if that matters at all and they say 8 ohms impedence.
A.you may have a blown amp if you tried switching the left and right and it does the samething then it need to be fixed or replaced.
