Q.room????????>.......................?Related Search:
Decorating & Remodeling
how do you arrange a smaller sized room so that it looks or seams bigger??? i have a bed(full size), desk, nightstand and a shelf in my room. i also have a walk-in closet. thanks!
A.Well, you mention what you have but don't give us the size of the room... that makes it more difficult to answer you.... but I'll try... Have you considered putting your desk in your walk-in closet? That would definitely make your room larger. Keep the furniture away from the walls as much as possible. That gives you the visual of a larger room. Keep your colors light and airy. Keep clutter to a minimum. Without more to go on, that's about all I can say.

Q.what is the difference between a room rental or a room mate?Related Search:
Renting & Real Estate
When you rent a room do you have use of the whole house? Or get just a room? Or a room with kitchen privalidges? I want to rent a room in my house but not sure what a room rental consistes of. Any tips on what to bewear of when renting a room in a private house? I rented apartments but never a room in my house. Thank you in advance for your help.
A.Usually you rent a room with kitchen, and of course a private bath or use of shared bath privileges. You can invite the person to watch television if they like, it is up to you. I rented a room out in my home twice. I let them use my home pretty much as their home. My room was the only off limit room. They did however have to keep everything cleaned up after themselves. Sometimes if you do let them have free reign of the house, they will help with the housecleaning, and you will have to make sure this is an understanding. Be sure to put everything in writing for a renter's agreement such as no company after a certain time and no loud music, and under no circumstances are they to let another person start staying with them overnight unless you agree to maybe one night a week, etc. You can also get unannounced guests, so you need to address this issue also. Also invest in a lock that you can lock on the outside of your bedroom door, and any other bedrooms you do not want people to go into. Not so much for the renter, but visitors who may come while you are gone.

Q.How do I insulatate a room that already has walls?Related Search:
Decorating & Remodeling
I have a florida room attached or my house, We just had a baby a few months ago and we would like to turn this room into a play room, we were going to purchase one of those heater/AC units for the room, BUT the room has these cedar walls that aren't insulated. Is there a way to insulate the room without ripping everything a part? the room is 14x14' is it going to cost a ton of money to do? what are my isulating optins? i realize i'm probably going to need to call a contractor, i could use some advice on that too.
A.Unless you are quite handy, a contractor is in order. You are probably looking at blown-in insulation that needs to be put in from the outside. They will have to drill small holes into the sides and then blow in the insulation. The contractor will then plug the holes once it is done.

Q.What kind of dining room light fixture should I get?Related Search:
Decorating & Remodeling
I currently have a semi-flush 3 light fixture. It is outdated and ugly. What kind of fixture should I replace it with? (Send me links with pictures if you can find one.) My dining room table is elegant, kind've fancy. The dining room is at the end of the kitchen (it is small, only the table fits in there), and the living room is at the other end of the dining room. The kitchen, dining room, living room form a U shape, the kitchen and living room are parallel, separated by a wall.(From the kitchen, you walk through dining room to get to the livingroom.) The dining room light fixture is in the middle of the room, so my table can't be directly under the fixture because there wouldn't be enough room to walk to the living room. So a long light directly above the table is out of the question since it wouldn't be centered above the table. Suggestions?
A.You can center a light over your table anyway. All you need to do is replace the short normal wiring and chain that is usually furnished with a hanging light. Make it long enough to reach your table and there you have it. Use a really nice hook over the table and you'll be fine. Home Depot has some really nice lighting fixtures.

Q.What does a room need in order to be considered a finished room?Related Search:
Do It Yourself (DIY)
We are redoing a room in our basement and currently it has no heat and/or cooling source. I had heard that a room, in order to be considered a finished room, needed a built in heat source i.e. heating vent or baseboard heating. What are the requirements?
A.If you are considering this from the perspective of selling your home and technically calling it a bedroom, I would check with your local building code office to find out what the specifications are in your area. Don't give them your name or address or anything if you don't have a building permit, otherwise they might surprise you with the requirement for one. But do ask as an "inquiry". What I do know that you haven't considered is that you need a closet for it to be a bedroom. Good luck.

A room, in architecture, is any distinguishable space within a structure. Most typically a room is separated by interior walls from other spaces or passageways; moreover, it is separated by an exterior wall from outdoor areas, sometimes with a door. Historically the use of rooms dates at least to early Minoan cultures about 2200 BC, where excavations on Santorini, Greece at Akrotiri reveal clearly defined rooms within structures.[1]

[edit] Historical room types

In early structures, diverse room types could be identified to include bedrooms, kitchens, bathing rooms, reception rooms and other specialized uses. The aforementioned Akrotiri excavations reveal rooms sometimes built above other rooms connected by staircases, bathrooms with alabaster appliances such as washbasins, bathing tubs and toilets, all connected to an elaborate twin plumbing systems of ceramic pipes for cold and hot water separately. Ancient Rome manifested very complex building forms with a variety of room types, including some of the earliest examples of rooms for indoor bathing. The Anasazi civilization also had an early complex development of room structures, probably the oldest in North America, while the Maya of Central America had very advanced room configurations as early as several hundred AD. By at least the early Han Dynasty in China (e.g. approximately 200 BC) complex multi-level building forms emerged, particularly for religious and public purposes; these designs featured many roomed structures and included vertical connections of rooms.

[edit] Box-room

Many houses are built to contain a box-room (box room or boxroom) that is easily identifiable being smaller than the others. The small size of these rooms limits their use, and they tend to be used as a small single bedroom, small child's bedroom or as a storage room.

Traditionally, and often seen in country houses and larger suburban houses up until the 1930s in Britain, The box room was literally for the storage of boxes, trunks, portmanteaux and the like, rather than intended for bedroom use.
