How would you compare Virgin Atlantic's Premium Economy vs. British Airways? I am particularly interested if you have been on the new Virgin PE cabin (the purple seats).
A.Well let me tell you, I've travelled on both and the BA ones are pretty rubbish. For some reason I think you have more space (as in width) on a BA economy than you do on the premium ones. The Virgin seats a really good (even if I must say the texture is a bit slippery) and the service beats BA any time

Q.What are the main differences between economy and premium economy seats?Related Search:

I live in NYC and I'm considering visiting London in a few months. I have noticed that British Airways and Virgin Atlantic have "premium economy" designations. I've never seen this classification on American based airlines so I'd like to hear from people who know the main differences between the designations. What do you get in premium economy that you don't get in economy? Polite, relevant answers only please.
A.It varies widely among airlines is the simple answer! When flying in the US it often doesn't really mean anything but an inch or two (its so similar, passengers often can't tell the difference between cabins!) More specifically, airlines such as BA and VA will give you more seat pitch (room between you and the row in front of you), slightly improved meal services (you still don't get access to anything like the Club Kitchen on British Airways which is reserved for Club World passengers). Premium Economy will almost always give you your own power port which is great for business travelers, or if you just don't want to watch the in-flight entertainment selection. Premium Economy will also sometimes get you priority boarding but I'm not sure if that is always supposed to be the case (it is what happened on my recent BA flight). To break it down, here are some things you get: – Bigger seats, usually with LEG rests (not FOOT rests which are standard in BA's World Traveler (economy) cabin. – Improved meal service (note that both BA and VA offer free meals and alcoholic beverages in addition to snack service in the galley at all times during the flight) – Often a dedicated cabin staff to make sure you receives a higher level of service – Sometimes priority boarding – Often higher mileage accrual For a more complete list of features visit the airlines web sites directly. For reviews skytrax (airlinequality.com) is really great. They break down service into cabins and then into different types of services to give you and idea of what to expect. Also keep in mind you may request an upgrade at the airport if space is available, often for less that a confirmed ticket in a different cabin. I was offered an upgrade from an award ticket to WT+ on BA for just $240 OW! Also keep in mind that some seats are much better than others (the bulkhead can be the best of times or the worst of times) so visit seatguru.com before making seat selections if you are allowed to pre-select your seat. Good luck and have a great trip!

Q.How do we get a Virgin Atlantic flight upgrade (in to premium economy from normal economy)?Related Search:
Air Travel
Hi everyone, Just wanted to ask something. My fella and I are heading to Vegas on the 26th May and we're going usual bog standard economy. We couldn't afford premium economy but it's a very special occasion trip and we'd like to try and get one of these upgrades you hear about. Does anyone know the best way of doing this please? We're going to turn up early and of course look smart and ask but any other tips would be great. Thanks, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
A.You need to have booked theflight directly with Virgin and be part of the frequent flyer scheme.

Q.What do preople prfer and why - BA World Traveller PLUS or Virgin Premium Economy?Related Search:
Air Travel
We are flying to New York or Boston and are planning to fly via British Airways World Traveller Plus £730 return journey or V irgin Premium Economy £720. As you can see there is no difference in price but does anyone have any recent experience with either company on long haul flights to New York or Boston and as such what is there advice?
A.They compete with each other so you wont see all that much of a difference. It really depends on which airline you perfer based on factors like the frequent flyer program. If one airline adds a special service or extra ... the other will match it. So you will not notice a whole lot difference.

Q.What is better way to travel btw DEL - LOS ANGELES. Bristish Airways Premium Economy or Emirates simple econom?Related Search:
Air Travel
I have a choice between Bristish Airways flight in premuim ecomomy class for DEL - LOS ANGELES and an Emirates flight in simple economy class. Another difference is that Bristish Airways takes 9 hours to London, stopover and another further 11 hours to Los Angeles. Emirates flies to Dubai first with a flight time of 3.5hours, stop over and another 16.5 hours to Los Angeles. Given these facts, which one is better. This is my first long flight so looking for some handy tips.
A.Though the british airways flight could be more costly but still more comfortable and two long flights and emirates will be economy and 3.5 plus 16.5 the other flight is really long and would be tough to sit 16.5 in economy. If price no consideration then go for brit.

Premium Economy "shell" seats on Japan Airlines

Premium Economy is a travel class offered on some airlines, taking one of two forms:

  • a simple upgrade to the Economy class provided as a free upgrade to premium members of frequent flyer program and passengers flying full-fare economy, normally as a section of the economy/coach cabin, which generally provides more legroom (36-38" seat pitch) by removing a few rows of seats, along with some form of leg rest, possibly enhanced In-flight entertainment and dedicated cabin crew
  • a more comprehensive upgrade, in return for higher fare, which will normally be in the form of a separate cabin section, combining the enhanced legroom of the simple upgrade with better seats (often with fewer seats per row, to improve shoulder/elbow room), at–seat laptop power, in-seat telephone, possibly a lounge service, priority boarding, improved entertainment features, improved meals and drinks and more luggage allowance.

Some airlines may designate an entire economy class as premium, such as United p.s. on its trans-continental Boeing 757-200 premium service aircraft.

Premium Economy tickets also normally earn more mileage in an airline's frequent flyer program, attracting a bonus between Economy and Business.[citation needed]

Class of service codes used by airlines vary—for example, Virgin Atlantic denotes Premium Economy as W.[1]
