How would you compare Virgin Atlantic's Premium Economy vs. British Airways? I am particularly interested if you have been on the new Virgin PE cabin (the purple seats).
A.Well let me tell you, I've travelled on both and the BA ones are pretty rubbish. For some reason I think you have more space (as in width) on a BA economy than you do on the premium ones. The Virgin seats a really good (even if I must say the texture is a bit slippery) and the service beats BA any time

Hi everyone, Just wanted to ask something. My fella and I are heading to Vegas on the 26th May and we're going usual bog standard economy. We couldn't afford premium economy but it's a very special occasion trip and we'd like to try and get one of these upgrades you hear about. Does anyone know the best way of doing this please? We're going to turn up early and of course look smart and ask but any other tips would be great. Thanks, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
A.You need to have booked theflight directly with Virgin and be part of the frequent flyer scheme.

Q.What do preople prfer and why - BA World Traveller PLUS or Virgin Premium Economy?Related Search:
Air Travel
We are flying to New York or Boston and are planning to fly via British Airways World Traveller Plus £730 return journey or V irgin Premium Economy £720. As you can see there is no difference in price but does anyone have any recent experience with either company on long haul flights to New York or Boston and as such what is there advice?
A.They compete with each other so you wont see all that much of a difference. It really depends on which airline you perfer based on factors like the frequent flyer program. If one airline adds a special service or extra ... the other will match it. So you will not notice a whole lot difference.

P.S I am hoping to go after my exams for 2 weeks! Any other information: Please ask! Thanks!
A.On international flights, some airlines only have 2 classes of service--economy and business class. The latter is usually quite luxurious, much like "first class" would be on a domestic flight. Some airlines have 3 classes on long flights, and a few airlines have found that offering an economy class product with more legroom is what a lot of customers are looking for--thus making 4 fare classes. Economy is cheapest, with tightest seating and fewest ameneties. Premium economy costs more than economy, but usually comes with more legroom, sometimes increased seat width. Business class is typically 4 to 5x more expensive than the cheapest economy class seats; they have fewer seats with much improved space, better food, wine, entertainment, and more attentive service, and tickets that can usually be changed free of charge. Some of these are "lie-flat" seats. First Class is posh, sometimes with even more room than business class, only a few seats in the cabin, and VIP service. First class can cost 2-3x as much as business. So lets say a typical NYC-LON flight on BA with 4 classes. Economy might go for $500; Premium economy might go for $1000; Business for $2400; First for $5000.

Premium Economy is a travel class offered on some airlines, taking one of two forms:

  • a simple upgrade to the Economy class provided as a free upgrade to premium members of frequent flyer program and passengers flying full-fare economy, normally as a section of the economy/coach cabin, which generally provides more legroom (36-38" seat pitch) by removing a few rows of seats, along with some form of leg rest, possibly enhanced In-flight entertainment and dedicated cabin crew
  • a more comprehensive upgrade, in return for higher fare, which will normally be in the form of a separate cabin section, combining the enhanced legroom of the simple upgrade with better seats (often with fewer seats per row, to improve shoulder/elbow room), at–seat laptop power, in-seat telephone, possibly a lounge service, priority boarding, improved entertainment features, improved meals and drinks and more luggage allowance.

Some airlines may designate an entire economy class as premium, such as United p.s. on its trans-continental Boeing 757-200 premium service aircraft.

Typically customers who choose to fly Premium Economy will be single travellers who want to have a quieter, more enjoyable journey, couples on honeymoons and families who want to make the journey more pleasant: particularly for daytime sectors these travellers don't want to pay for a fully flat bed, just a more relaxed environment.[citation needed] Premium Economy tickets also normally earn more mileage in an airline's frequent flyer program, attracting a bonus between Economy and Business.[citation needed]

Class of service codes used by airlines vary—for example, Virgin Atlantic denotes Premium Economy as W.[1]
