Q.Iran and the US to meet but can any good come of it ?Related Search:

Tehran Times Political Desk TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki said here on Saturday that there is a chance for a thaw in Iran-U.S. relations in the future if Washington “acknowledges its wrong policies” toward Iran and takes steps to rectify them. Mottaki’s comments came as diplomats from Iran and the United States are preparing for a meeting in Baghdad on Monday. “One can be optimistic about talks if the United States adopts a realistic view and acknowledges its wrong policies in the past and decides to make amends for them and make a commitment to observe its legal obligations,” Mottaki told reporters at a news conference with his Sri Lankan counterpart Rohitha Bogollagama. Given the attitude of Iran can any good come out of this meeting ? Or is it destined to escalate the problems ?
A.I would like to believe some good will come from it, however, my gut tells me otherwise. I feel this meeting will only become an opportunity for iran to air some grievances (made up or otherwise) and call attention to their "plight" so as to garner support from the liberal right in the USA. We have demonstrated that capability clearly enough. Seems it is always the US which has to make "adjustments" to allow for the thawing! Why doesn't anyone recall why the talks are needed in the first place? All the fighting in iraq aside, iran discounted a very clear request and subsequent demand from the UN! Why is it no one sees this? I feel no matter what happens it won't be good.

Will it be Israel or America that goes to war with Iran and if so is it post elections in November that they are all waiting for ? Iran invites West to return to nuclear talks Tehran Times Political Desk TEHRAN -- Foreign Minister Manuchehr Mottaki on Saturday invited the major Western powers to return to the negotiating table to resolve the dispute over Iran’s nuclear program. “We advise them to return to negotiations and not to retry the path that they have already tried,” Mottaki told reporters at a joint press conference after a meeting with Belarusian Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov. Mottaki stated that Tehran sees no reason for suspending uranium enrichment. “Enrichment of uranium by the Islamic Republic is legal and one of its rights under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT),” he said. All the inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities indicate no deviation toward weaponization, he added. Jim W Hello Shiraz . I think the first to go will be those who don't follow the rules - but you have seen that more than a few times haven't you ?
A.What I fear the most is that we will have another (God forbid) homeland terrorist attack between now and November '08. Then we will attack Iran for......harbouring terrorists.. ? that sound's like as good a reason as any.

Old Persian painting, depicting Manuchehr sitting on the royal throne

Manūchehr (in Persian: منوچهر), older Persian Manōčihr, Avestan Manuščiθra, is a character in Shahnameh. He is the first of the legendary Shāhs who ruled Iran after the breakup of the world empire of Manūchehr's great-grandfather, Fereydūn.

Manūchehr was the grandson of Īrāj, who was the son of Fereydūn, and avenged the death of Īrāj at the hands of Fereydūn's other two sons, Salm and Tūr. From the death of Tūr in Manūchehr's war of vengeance sprang a war between the peoples of Īrān and Tūrān that would last for centuries, until the reign of Kai Khosrow.

Manūchehr died after a reign of 120 years, and was succeeded by his son Nowzar.
