Q.Why do US politicians condemn the Scottish Justice minister while defending Luis Posada Carriles?Related Search:
Politics
[Link]  I understand this guy is allowed to opereste within a Federal prison, hypocrites it seems
A.The americans are doing there usual dance about, with another nations laws, they have no right to presume to tell any minister of another nation what to do under that nations laws, but as always they seem to think that they as a nation have a better sense of right and wrong than any other and the right to tell others what to do. Firstly, the american FBI head is an idiot and not entitled to lecture any one on the treatment of people in jail, in our nation, on the basis of humanitarian reasons, the word does not even appear in American justice where they actually fry living human beings to death, and kill more of the underage and mentally infirm, in one state than any other nation does, in it's entire country, and just in passing, do you or any reader know which state that is ?, I bet, that every one of you, knows that this is Texas law, we are talking here, and the risks of the death penalty for being black in Texas ? six times greater than if you are white !!! So just what does this nations politicians think we have done here ? voted them into office, to run our nation ? Or are they planning their usual assault, on our justice system and going to apply for his extradition, because in your nation this would be a crime ? After all they have done this with the Barclay bankers, who got extradited on their request despite there being no charges brought against these same men in this country, the home of the bank in question, and what happens when they get there ? Are they charged and evidence produced against them, NO, there is a threat, that if they defend themselves, that they face 99 years in jail if they lose, now what justice system allows a prosecutor to make a decision on a sentence, when there has not even been a crime proven yet, let alone allow this to happen and take the option of sentencing decisions away from an iindependent judiciary, into the hands of a civil servant, Justice ? even Americans think that plea bargaining stinks ! And they do all this, under rules agreed by the governments in question, for extradition, but refuse to ratify this treaty in congress because they do not want their citizens to have their constitutional rights infringed ? So extradition is a one way street here ? and American laws now operate in Britain with out demur, or challenge ? There is a stench of high and mighty hypocrisy here, and the stench, reaches all the way from Washington to Scotland, We should be grateful here that America has not invaded us , it is normal that they operate this way around the world when any one does not bend over for them, but they need to look at their own glasshouse before wanting us to decide to fry someone who is a dead man walking. In this nation our laws prevail, not yours, and not your attitudes either, and long may it remain so, as well.;

Q.Why is Bush harboring terrorist Jose Luis Posada Carriles?Related Search:
Politics
April 17, 2007 Dear Attorney General Gonzales: It has come to my attention that based on a recent ruling by U.S. District Judge Kathleen Cordone, Luis Posada Carriles may be released on bond from jail in New Mexico. I adamantly oppose the release of Posada Carriles and assert that the decision is inconsistent with respect to our nation’s policy and principles regarding terrorism. This case is important for United States relations with our neighbors in the hemisphere, and for our moral credibility on the so-called “Global War on Terrorism.” Posada Carriles is a CIA-trained Cuban exile implicated in a series of terrorist incidents, including the bombing of the Cubana Airlines civilian airliner that killed 73 people on October 6, 1976. Evidence in this case has continued to emerge as recently as 2005 when the National Security Archive of George Washington University posted a declassified CIA document from 1976 that quotes Posada Carriles as saying, “We are going to hit a Cuban airplane.” Additionally, Posada Carriles was a participant in a notorious act of domestic terror that took place here in Washington, D.C., with the bombing that killed former Chilean Foreign Minister Orlando Letelier and his American associate Ronnie Moffitt. Carter Cornick, a retired counterterrorism specialist for the FBI who worked on the Letelier case, said in an interview with The New York Times that the Cubana Airlines bombing and the Letelier car bombing were planned at a June 1976 meeting in Santo Domingo attended by Posada Carriles. Cornick said that Posada Carriles was involved “up to his eyeballs” in planning the attacks. At the time of these bombings Venezuelan police found maps and other evidence in Posada’s Venezuelan residence that tied him to the terrorist acts. Furthermore, by evading Venezuelan justice, Posada Carriles has been able to continue committing terrorist crimes in recent years. In a 1998 interview with The New York Times, Posada Carriles claimed responsibility for organizing a series of bombings aimed at Cuban hotels, department stores and other civilian targets during the summer of 1997. These bombings killed an Italian tourist and injured 11 other people. In November 2000, Posada Carriles was arrested in Panama for preparing a bomb to explode in the University of Panama’s Conference Hall, where Fidel Castro was scheduled to deliver a speech. Hundreds of people were expected to attend this event, and had Cuban intelligence not uncovered the plot beforehand, there would have been massive civilian casualties. Posada Carriles was convicted in a Panamanian court only to be pardoned by Panamanian President Mireya Moscoso just days before she left office in August 2004. On September 19, 2001, President Bush powerfully reaffirmed our national policy against terrorism: “Anybody who harbors a terrorist, encourages terrorism, will be held accountable. I would strongly urge any nation in the world to reject terrorism, expel terrorists.” As recently as April 10, 2007, President Bush reiterated these sentiments when he said “I vowed that if you harbored a terrorist you’re equally as guilty as the terrorist. That’s a doctrine. In order for this country to be credible, when the President says something, he must mean it. I meant it….” If Posada Carriles is released on bond, there is a reasonable assumption that he may flee the United States in avoidance of further prosecution by this country and others. To tolerate such an outcome is inconsistent with the stated principles and policy of the United States with respect to the “Global War on Terror” and mars U.S. standing among the international community. As such, to provide Posada Carriles with an opportunity to escape prosecution for acts of terror will compromise the moral credibility of the United States. I urge the following alternative course of action by the United States: Return Posada Carriles to Venezuela where former Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel has unequivocally stated that Posada Carriles will be tried for his crimes. It is a priority for Venezuela, and it should be a priority for the United States to ensure that Posada Carriles – who escaped from a Venezuelan prison – will not be rewarded in his efforts to evade Venezuelan law. The United States must make it clear that it does not reward terrorists. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response. Sincerely, /s/ Dennis J. Kucinich Member of Congress [Link] ... “I vowed that if you harbor a terrorist you’re equally as guilty as the terrorist. That’s a doctrine. In order for this country to be credible, when the President says something, he must mean it.” President George W. Bush, April 10, 2007, American Legion Post 177, Fairfax, Virginia. Washington and Posada Carriles: Fighting Terror Selectively MARJORIE COHN Counterpunch Friday May 11, 2007 Since the 9/11 attacks, the Bush administration has made the "war on terror" the centerpiece of its domestic and foreign policy. Bush cries terror where there is none - as in Iraq and in the communications of ordinary Americans. Meanwhile, he protects the real terrorists in our midst. Luis Posada Carriles is a Cuban-born terrorist who has accurately been called the Osama bin Laden of the Western hemisphere. He boasted of helping to detonate deadly bombs in Havana hotels 10 years ago. Declassified FBI and CIA documents at the National Security Archive reveal that Posada was the mastermind of a 1976 bombing of a civilian Cuban airplane that killed 73 people. He escaped from a Venezuelan prison where he was being tried for his role in the first in-air bombing of a commercial airliner. Posada then played a central role in the illegal Iran-Contra scandal.
A.because Posada is what Bush admin terms as "a good terrorist" because they attack the other side's civilians.

Q.Who is worse Luis Posada Carriles or Timothy McVeigh and why?Related Search:
Politics
just to let you know both were right wing by the way but who do you think was worse
A.Carriles was much worse. McVeigh was a low-level foot soldier who had a lot of help in OKC. Carriles was more a ring leader, involved in bombing a plane and war mongering, also accused of involvment in Iran-Contra and JFK assassination. Sadly, probably not a rogue agent, but following orders from even higher.

Q.Why did Bush just release the terrorist hiding in the US Luis Posada Carriles?Related Search:
Politics
So much for the Global War on Terror huh? Posada Carriles, a former CIA agent, was released last week from a Texas jail, though Venezuela and Cuba want him extradited in the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner, which crashed, killing all 73 persons aboard. Posada Carriles was released from jail in Texas on a 350,000-dollar bond pending the May 11 start of his trial on immigration charges, and immediately flew to his wife’s home in Miami. Will we target him for assasination like Israel does? probably not. You see people, terrorism is only terrorism when it is aimed at us, when we do it (or horbor, finance, and support terrorists) it doesn't matter. Yet another reason that anyone fighting the War on Terror should slap themselves in the face and get a reality check. The US just freed a terrorist and he walks amongst you now in Miami! Have fun! [Link]  [Link] > libstalker - thats all? weak.
A.Two things (at least) about fighting a war against a concept. It can go on in perpetuity and you can write your own rules.

Q.why is the terrorist luis posada carriles being sheltered by the united states in texas?Related Search:

he and ex-cia man michael townley also a terrorist are responsible for the car bombing of orlando letelier in washington d.c. in 1976 shouldnt the u.s. own up to its dirty secrets and stop being hypocrites on this "war" on terrorism
A.The New York Times reported[25] on April 27, 2006 that on April 13, 2005, Posada requested political asylum in the United States through his attorney. He is being held on accusations he entered the country illegally across the Mexican border. On May 3, the Venezuelan Supreme Court approved an extradition request for him. Speaking the same day in Washington, D.C., State Department Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs Roger Noriega stated that Posada might not have been in the United States. Noriega added that charges against him "may be a completely manufactured issue." However declassified FBI and CIA reports show that the agencies suspected his involvement in the airline bombing within days of its occurrence. [4] [5] Roger Noriega, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs and supporter of the long running United States embargo against Cuba. At the time of Posada's arrest in the U.S., Noriega stated that the charges against Mr Posada "may be a completely manufactured issue", and that Posada "might not have been in the United States". [3]On May 17, 2005 the Miami Herald conducted an interview with Posada in South Florida; later that day, the Herald and the Associated Press reported that he had been detained by the Department of Homeland Security. He had withdrawn his asylum appeal and was moving to sneak out of the country when arrested. His arrest presents diplomatic problems as his extradition is sought by both Cuba and Venezuela, neither of which are close U.S. allies. His arrest coincided with large anti-Posada protests in Havana - organizers estimated that hundreds of thousands of Cubans participated in the rally. At this time, Carriles is being held by U.S. immigration authorities in El Paso, Texas, on charges of entering the country illegally — Posada's immigration case had a hearing before a Homeland Security judge in Texas on August 29, 2005, had another on September 26. On September 28th a US judge ruled that Posada cannot be deported because he 'faced the threat of torture in Venezuela'. The Venezuelan government reacted angrily to the ruling, accusing the US of having a "double standard in its so-called war on terrorism".[26] The Venezuelan Government wants to retry Posada for his role in the 1976 airline bombing. The Cuban government wants to try him for the hotel bombings, but has agreed that extraditing him to Venezuela would be acceptable, not least because Venezuela has had an extradition treaty with the US since 1922, but Cuba does not. The United States denied Venezuela's extradition request, citing a lack of evidence. Some have questioned this decision though others point out that this could have resulted from the poor relations that the U.S. government has with Chavez's Venezuelan government.

Q.Why do conservatives support terrorist like Luis Posada Carriles?Related Search:

Luis Posada Carriles a Cuban-born Venezuelan anti-communist bomber.[2][3][4] A former Central Intelligence Agency operative, Posada has been convicted in absentia of involvement in various terrorist attacks and plots in the Western hemisphere, including: involvement in the 1976 bombing of a Cuban airliner that killed seventy-three people[5][6]; admitted involvement in a string of bombings in 1997 targeting fashionable Cuban hotels and nightspots;[7][8][9] involvement in the Bay of Pigs invasion; involvement in the Iran-Contra affair;"
A.I dunno, no one answered my question either. I think they are being extremely hypocritical. This man is a terrorist. He killed many innocent people. The US refuses to punish him or extradite him. If one sticks to a cogent set of morals, he shouldn't be a free man.
