Q.what is the ammortization stage in sports exercise?Related Search:
Higher Education (University )
doing a report on speed and agility for exercise physiology module in college and have already done the Vertical jump test..have this "ammortisation stage" jotted down but haven't got an iota what it is
A.The amortisation stage is the name given to the time it takes for a muscle to change from eccentric to concentric action. The longer the delay, the slower the jump, and the less power will be generated. Check out plyometrics - it's a training system built on reducing the amortisation stage to increase the speed/power of a vertical jump, among other things.

Q.Is it even remotely important to try to convince Global Warming deniers now?Related Search:
Global Warming
Increasingly I feel - they don't believe, it doesn't matter. Not one jot, not one tiny iota. They are the last vestige of a disinformation campaign which has left them behind, in much the same way as the last stragglers of McCarthy's propaganda still look for communist conspiracies and check for reds under the beds. What matters is that the centre ground of public opinion has shifted enough, and while the world is warming up, the ever shrinking number of die hard deniers...is simply in the cold. Is it even remotely important to expend any effort at all convincing them? @ wizard - what use is evidence to people who have no interest in evidence. There is plenty of it, but really, what does it matter. The deniers are not denying because of a lack of evidence. So why bother? @DrT Good article let me post it right up here, as it seems you didn't understand your own reference, and it is relevant to the question. Note the wording "Major Global Threat" - not "is it real, is it happening" as you imply. While a recent Pew Global Attitudes survey finds a double-digit increase in the proportion of Americans citing the environmental problems as a major global threat – from 23% to 37% -- pollution is still a lower-rated concern in the U.S. than in any other advanced industrial country or in China. In deed, the Chinese are far more likely than Americans to cite environmental problems as a top global danger (70% vs. 37%). In several countries, the proportion viewing environmental degradation as a leading global threat has risen sharply in the past five years. In Brazil, the percentage considering pollution and environmental problems to be a top danger rose from 20% in 2002 to 49% this year
A.Of course not. But it is important not to let their ignorance go unchallenged. How many people who are simply "skeptical" do you think read each deniers question? Do you think anyone answers liberal's stuff in an effort to persuade HIM? Dr T - The survey you quote is not to the point. Here's one that is: [Link] = Ron C - You're a smart guy. The idea that, as a whole, science is moving away from global warming is silly. There may be more visible skeptics flapping their gums. But actual data about things like the Arctic ice cap is providing even more proof. Which is more important? Dr. Gray publishes his blog, or the IPCC gets the Nobel Prize? Q.How can people say that Pagan religions truly died out when people named saints after the Gods?Related Search:
Religion & Spirituality
In Ireland, St. Brigid is credited with miracles that parallel the stories told about the Celtic Goddess by the same name. This was not unique to the Celts however as the same thing happened in Greece (one of the earliest areas to become "Christianized") "St. Dionysius is obviously based on the notion of Dionysos. Lawson says of him, “The disguise of the ancient god is thin indeed. His name is changed by an iota, but his character not a jot.” Both are associated with Naxos, the vine, wine, and drunkenness. Even a street in Athens that runs beside the theater of Dionysos is now called Street of St. Dionysius.18 There is a myth of St. Dionysius which Lawson includes in his book which is the perfect illustration of the complete way in which the saint assumed the character of the deity." “Once upon a time S. Dionysius was on his way to Naxos: and as he went he espied a small plant which excited his wonder. He dug it up, and because the sun was hot sought wherewith to shelter it. As he looked about, he saw the bone of a bird’s leg, and in this be put the plant to keep it safe. To his surprise the plant began to grow, and he sought again a larger covering for it. This time he found the leg-bone of a lion, and as he could not detach the plant from the bird’s leg, he put both together in that of the lion. Yet again it grew and this time he found the leg-bone of an ass and put plant and all into that. And so he came to Naxos. And when he came to plant the vine— for the plant was in fact the first vine— he could not sever it from the bones that sheltered it, but planted them all together. Then the vine grew and bore grapes and men made wine and drank thereof. And first when they drank they sang like birds, and when the drank more they grew strong as lions, and afterwards foolish as asses.” If these Saints were actually the Gods in disguise, then how can it truly be said that the Pagan religons ever really died out?
A.pagan religions didn't die out in the first place, they were either absorbed or driven to the fringes of society. Initially a lot of pagan kings introduced to Christianity simply incorporated Jesus into their extant pantheon instead of converting outright. You also have to remember that an offical conversion does not equal a total conversion. Part of the appeal of Christianity to pagan monarchs was that in Christianity a failure of leadership does not mean you're gonna get your throat cut in a pete bog, but for joe public it made almost no difference to them. Plenty of Christian monarchs had to outlaw some pagan practices centuries after the official conversion of their kingdoms because it was still going on. There are also some groups who claim an unbroken hereditory line of practice going back before Christianity reached Europe, although personally I find this unlikely and difficult if not impossible to prove.

A.Use a dictionary. We're not going to do your homework for you. Your teacher's syntax isn't very good. A lot of those words are misused.

Q.Do you get upset when a answerer, answers a question which doesn't fall in line with worldly teachings? ?Related Search:
Religion & Spirituality
The world has it's churches teaching there congregation about the Bible. God teaches his people through his son, Jesus Christ, who baptizes in the Holy Ghost. The two teachings are not the same. Example: St. Matthews, 5; 17,18. Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. I do know this and will say this with all the truth given me by Christ. What Jesus was saying here was this. He came to fulfill and not change one iota the law of God. He did not come to destroy the law or the prophets and what he is talking about is the ten commandments. Yet, it seems as though all taught by men have misunderstood this saying, and have never looked into it truthfully. If they have, they would learn that all churches break the law by there teachings and worshiping of Jesus Christ. Example: 1. Thou shall have no other Gods before me. 2. Thou shal not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water beneath the earth: Now my point; Jesus said to Peter when Peter told Jesus that he would not have him wash his feet. Jesus said to Peter, "If I can't wash your feet, you can not be my disciple." What God has taught me is this. Jesus was telling all of mankind, that he was no better than any other man on earth. Yet many bow down to crosses with Christ strewn across it. The cross is depicted by God as an idol. Remember the second commandment. Thous shalt not bow down to any thing that is in heaven or on earth. Jesus went to heaven, to fulfill his calling as the one who sends the Holy Ghost. Jesus is the only one who can baptize with the Holy Ghost and no human hands are needed to be put upon anyone who God chooses to recieve it. That is why Peter was shocked when he was lead to the gentiles who have recieved the Holy Ghost, without baptism in water. Note: I myself was engulfed with the Holy Ghost for over a week before I ever was baptised and joined a church. But at the time, I didn't know this. Since leaving the churches of man, I have learned much more and was humbled upon learning that when I had recieved the Holy Ghost, I didn't need to join any church, but I did, because I was ignorant of Gods ways and following mans ways of the world, which are wrong in the eyes of God. Now if any body can answer this without getting upset, I would like to hear your take on my examples also. If you become angry, then you are not of the spirit, for the spirit that teaches me, keeps me calm in all scriptural truths, no matter how much distorted they are from the worlds perspective.
A.Being in the Spirit does not make one free from error. I am also filled with the Spirit, so one of us is in error. You claim that churches break the Law by teaching the worship of Jesus Christ. What do the scripture say? 1. Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit are one: A) John 10:24-30 Then the Jews surrounded Him and said to Him, “How long do You keep us in doubt? If You are the Christ, tell us plainly.” Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me. But you do not believe, because you are not of My sheep, as I said to you. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.” Jesus makes some important points here: HE gives eternal life. HE is the one we follow. HE and God are one. B) 1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. (From John 1 we know that Jesus Christ is the Word) C) John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. D) John 20:28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!” (Notice Thomas was neither rebuked, nor corrected. What Thomas said was entirely correct - Jesus and God are one.) Since the scriptures, many out of Jesus' own mouth, indicate that He and God are one (I have many more than these few), please provide some scripture which directly say that Jesus the Messiah is NOT God, and should NOT be worshipped. Yes, Jesus is the only one who can baptize by the Holy Ghost. When Peter met the Gentiles who were filled with teh holy Ghost without water baptism, all that indicates is water baptism is not required to recieve the Holy Spirit. It does not say that whomever witnessed Christ to them did not lay hands on them and baptize them in the Holy Spirit - But yes, you are correct, human hands are not necessarily needed to recieve the Holy Ghost, but the practice of laying on of hands for the giftings of the Spirit - particularly for the endowmnet of certain Spiritual gifts necessary for the working of the ministry, are necessary. Lastly, if God supposedly told you Jesus was no better than any other man, I challenge that "word" you recieved in saying it was not from God. Jesus was NOT telling mankind He was no better, but He WAS telling mankind that He IS the Messiah, to be worshipped and praised. God had this all planned out from the very beginning - somehow you seemed to have missed that.

For other uses of "Jot", see Jot.

Iota and its successor Jot (from Greek iota, Hebrew yodh, the smallest letters in those two alphabets) are Turing tarpits, esoteric programming languages that are designed to be as small as possible but still Turing-complete. Each uses two symbols and involves two operations, with simple denotational semantics defined in terms of lambda calculus. Zot is a continuized version of Iota that includes input and output.

Iota's universal combinator is the lambda term U = λf.((fS)K). Then one can recover the usual SKI basis combinators as follows: I\, =\, (UU),\; K\, =\, (U(UU)), \;S\, =\, (U(U(UU))).
