Q.What is the International standard for the swimming pool in the shallow area?Related Search:
Swimming & Diving
Our pool was reconstructed recently and it seems that instead of shallow of 3feet we have a shallow of 2.75ft but on measuring it it was found to be below 2.5ft which is why our hand touches the floor on swimming freestyle in shallow. Just wondering that the international standard for shallow is. Also, any tips for improving buoyancy while swimming in such a situation?
A.What "international standard" are you referring to? Surely any international standard would not specify a distance in English units. According to FINA, competition pools should be at least 1 meter in depth, but 2 meters is preferred. Here is an excerpt from the FINA handbook: [Link]  and a link to give depth suggestions for pools, but it is not a "standard": [Link]  Now that your pool is in place, I suggest you learn a shallower pull -- not because you have a shallow pool, but because it is better stroke mechanics. If your hands are going down more than two feet, you are putting too much "up and down" motion in your stroke and you are wasting energy bobbing up and down in the water (although you may not perceive it). Do some drills where you draw your thumb down the center of your body (touching your torso through the whole stroke). Then try swimming with your thumb about 6 inches from your body. It won't make your pool any deeper, but you'll end up with a more efficient stroke.

Q.Is there an international standard for sign language?Related Search:
Languages
I am slowly going deaf. I am only 38, so I have a while to live with it and want to learn sign language. I can take an ASL class, but I also like to travel. I wondered if there is an international standard, or if ASL is the best option.
A.Unfortunately not - ideas are expressed differently in different languages, plus homonyms are unique in each language. You can point to your eye and mean "I" in English, but try that in German, where I=ich and eye=Auge!

Q.Poll : How can we help students by a uniform International standard for English language ?Related Search:
Primary & Secondary Education
Aren't there opportunities here for creative problem solvers? The USA has a multitude of children's publications. Could those in the publishing industry provide a uniform International standard for English language . Star Please if you can .
A.One of the world's biggest Problem is Language and Education . Language is more than anything else makes us human . A new language named Simplish a uniform International standard for English language and it is important to erradicate illiteracy by using English Language . There are thriving communities of English native speakers in countries all over the world, and this historical diaspora has led to some noticeable differences in pronunciation, vocabulary and grammar in different countries, as well as those variations which exist between different regions, and across the social strata, within the same country. Transliteration is the practice of transcribing a word or text written in one writing system into another writing system or system of rules for such practice.Transliteration because Hindi language is phonetic not English . From a linguistic point of view, transliteration is a mapping from one system of writing into another, word by word. Transliteration attempts to be exact, so that an informed reader should be able to reconstruct the original spelling of unknown transliterated words. To achieve this objective transliteration may define complex conventions for dealing with letters in a source script which do not correspond with letters in a goal script. Wikipedia will soon have this new language if not we will find other ways to make it popular . People all across Yahoo answers will also help . So I am inclined to create a modified English named Simplish , which will include about five lakh words and will also facilitate the Indians to interact with the foreigners in the easiest possible way . We can drop out the undesired words, synonyms, undesired homonyms and homophones. I am determined to create an easily intelligible English, which will include our colloquial terms and the most essential words. Differences between spoken and written English -- As with most languages, written language tends to use a more formal register than spoken language. The acquisition of literacy takes significant effort in English. Spelling - Because of the many changes in pronunciation which have occurred since a written standard developed, and the retention of many historical idiosyncrasies in spelling, English spelling is difficult even for native speakers to master. This difficulty is shown in such activities as spelling bees that generally require the memorization of words. English speakers may also rely on computer tools such as spell checkers more than speakers of other languages, as the users of the utility may have forgotten, or never learned, the correct spelling of a word. The generalizations that exist are quite complex and there are many exceptions leading to a considerable amount of rote learning. The spelling system causes problems in both directions - a learner may know a word by sound but not be able to write it correctly (or indeed find it in a dictionary) .

Q.chemistry help- why is it important for a measurement system to have an international standard?Related Search:
Chemistry
why is it important for a measurement system to have an international standard?
A.Having an international standard allows scientists and other people to share information easily. For example, if a chemist discovers something, he or she will want to share their findings with other chemists. These other chemists will want to test the theory through whatever experiment he or she had used. So it's important that they are using the same exact measurements when repeating the experiment elsewhere, otherwise the results will be drastically different.

A.International is a brand/maker of large to medium duty trucks. The standard is most likely referring to the trans mission. It is probably just a 6 speed, no big deal if you are capable of driving a "stick" shift. It will most likely also be a diesel engine.

International standards are standards developed by international standards organizations. International standards are available for consideration and use, worldwide. The most prominent organisation is the International Organization for Standardization.abhinav

International standards may be used either by direct application or by a process of modifying an international standard to suit local conditions. The adoption of international standards results in the creation of equivalent, national standards that are substantially the same as international standards in technical content, but may have (i) editorial differences as to appearance, use of symbols and measurement units, substitution of a point for a comma as the decimal marker, and (ii) differences resulting from conflicts in governmental regulations or industry-specific requirements caused by fundamental climatic, geographical, technological, or infrastructural factors, or the stringency of safety requirements that a given standard authority considers appropriate.

International standards is one way of overcoming technical barriers in international commerce caused by differences among technical regulations and standards developed independently and separately by each nation, national standards organisation, or company. Technical barriers arise when different groups come together, each with a large user base, doing some well established thing that between them is mutually incompatible. Establishing international standards is one way of preventing or overcoming this problem.

There are many organisations that establish and implement standards.
