Hooman (also spelled Houman) - هومن is a Persian name for men which means benevolent. It is the antonym of "Doshman" - دشمن, which means malevolent or enemy. Hooman also carries historic significance, and has also been mentioned in the Shahnameh of Ferdosi. The name has become more popular in Iran as several people with that name have become famous singers and writers.
In the Ferdowsi's story of Rostam and Sohrab, Hooman, a Turani warrior is in charge of keeping Rostam's presence in the battle a secret from Sohrab.
