| Q. | Are Bosniaks people anti or pro-American, anti-American, pro-Serbian or pro-Al Qaeda? | Related Search: Politics | | | I know I asked a similar question but this time I want to be more specific. Are Bosnian Muslims pro-American, anti-American, pro-Serbian or pro-Al Qaeda. I know Bosnian Serbs are anti-American.
Here is what I know: US led NATO forces helped Bosnia during the Yugoslav war and so did the Mujahideen.
Note that though Im American I have nothing against Bosnia, Serbia or any country for that matter. I just want to know what people in this specific region think about us.
| | A. | None of the offered, actually. They're West-oriented but still pending between US and Europe.
They've found more constructive mutual understanding with the US, but they are very well aware that US only seek for their own interests. Besides that, America is on the other side of the world so European countries would be more natural partner. On the other hand, Bosniaks had bad experience with Europeans especially Great Britain and France in 1990s, so they generally don't trust them either.
Regarding international politics: they're open and friendly to foreigners but because of experience from the past, as I explained, it's difficult for Bosniaks to be strongly "pro" toward anyone in sense to be die-hard for somebody else's causes. I heard one of them saying "where was the world when we needed them?" Sounded a bit selfish to me at first but I didn't know how to answer that. Nevertheless many Bosniaks show some sympathies toward Palestinians in whom they recognize a nation of similar fate.
As far as regional politics is concerned, Bosniaks had sympathies for former Croatian president Mesic to whom they credit normalization of relationships between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Those two countries which fought each other in 1990s are very friendly today.
Unfortunately, there hasn't been any serious comparable efforts from Serbia so far, but it's perhaps reasonable because after Milosevic, Serbian politicians have been mainly focused on their internal problems, abandoning foreign politics to chaos.
And Al-Qaeda you asked about was never an option. | | | |
