Q.Is it possible to make a 480i television look better?Related Search:

I bought a 480i television without even thinking I wanted at least a 720 and I f****d up. So I was wondering if it was possible to make it look better?
A.The keys to making a 480i TV look it's best are: 1. Go into the menu system and tweak the picture settings. 2. Feed the TV the cleanest signal you can. For example, if you are using it with an antenna, make sure you are watching digital signals. If the TV doesn't have digital tuner, sign up for your $40 off government coupon on 1/1/08 so you can buy a converter box in Feb. If you are getting satellite or cable TV, use the type of connection that gives you the best signal. If you add a note with what kind of inputs your TV has and how you are getting your TV signals, we could probably tell you what's best for you. Best - HDMI Pretty good - component OK - s-video Widely used - composite lowest quality - RF analog coax

Q.Is there a huge difference between 480i and 480p?Related Search:

I have a xbox 360 and I can't decide wether to use it on my 19" LCD 480p tv or the 32" flatscreen tube tv that is 480i. What would you do?
A.The 480i interlaces the video frames, while 480p does not. The 480p does provide a smoother picture, though but it would be hard to notice the difference at 480 resolution. The lcd Tv will also privde a less "pixelated" picture than the tube, but again, not by much. So in short yes, there is a difference albeit small. I would go with the LCD screen anyway, every little bit helps.

Q.Is there a really big difference when playing 480i against 1080p for PS3?Related Search:
PlayStation
Hi,I'm getting a PS3 soon. I can't afford a HDTV,and that means nothing above 480i. Am I gonna miss out on a lot if I did not get a HDTV? I know there really is no graphical difference, but what is the big difference, for all you PS3 owners who have HDTVs? Thank you for your help.
A.480 is SD, meaning 480 vertical lines per inch the diffrence between 480i or 480p is the type of lines in the 480, i measns interlaced or every other line is enhanced definition, p meases progressive or every line is HD. so the real diffrence in the 480i vs 1080p is the abount of lines on the screen and the amount of lines that are hd, the more the better it looks, but its only as good as the source. game graphics are determined by the makers of the game, not your tv, not your PS3, not the wire. A HD tv takes what you give it and displays it the best possibe way. basically it cleans the images up so they are produced brighter and clearer, but dosnt improve the graphics the game is programed with. hope this helps

I just bought component cables and hooked thwem up from dvd player to my Vizio, when I turn both on the Vizio only says 480i (SD). How do I change it to whatever the resolution of the dvd is? Thank You so much
A.on the Vizio you can change it in the menu to do it automatically or just leave it on one source if you leave on lets say 1080 and the picture is 420 you will have no picture. my suggestion is let it do it auto and go get a Up conversion DVD player, I recommend Yamaha! Q.How come my television onlys plays 480i and not 720i? How would i change it to 720i? Its 32" toshiba?Related Search:

I bought a 32" toshiba televison the other day. How come it only plays at 480i not 720i. is there a way that i can change it to 720i?
A.no unless its got 720i or 1080i resolution normal tvs that are not plasma or lcd use 510 lines for resolution . there is no way you can upgrade the signal to 720 or 1080 . 510 lines use all thier available pixels which means when viewing the picture quality can be good but the more pixels you have the better the picture . if youve seen hd you can understand what i mean .

Q.Is there a way to upconvert SD satellite signal such as 480i to 1080i without subscribing to there hd service?Related Search:
TVs
any components that can be added to upconvert a 480i satellite signal would be great, but do they exhist?
A.Every HDTV has such an upconverter built into it. Almost every PC that is set up with a TV tuner does it also. This doesn't increase the resolution of the original 408i signal; the upconverter just interpolates the missing information to give you a fuzzy 1080i image. It is not possible to actually increase the resolution of the 480i signal.

Q.How can I change my Playstation 3 resolution from 720p to 480i with only a composite cable?Related Search:
PlayStation
I had an hdmi cable for the ps3 before, but I don't anymore. The screen is blank and I can't change the resolution anymore, probably because it's too high for the composite a/v cable. Any help?
A.Go to your output settings and select auto. It should register the cable you are using and set itself for that.

480i is the shorthand name for a video mode, namely the U.S. NTSC television system or digital television systems with the same characteristics. The i, which is sometimes uppercase, stands for interlaced, the 480 for a vertical frame resolution of 480 lines containing picture information; while NTSC has a total of 525 lines, only 480 of these are used to display the image. The digitally transmitted horizontal resolution is usually 720 or 704 pixels with an aspect ratio of 4:3 and therefore a display resolution of 640 × 480 (VGA); that is standard-definition television (SDTV).

The field rate (not the frame rate) is usually (60/100.1% ≈) 59.94 hertz for color TV and can be rounded up to 60 Hz. There are several conventions for written shorthands for the combination of resolution and rate: 480i60, 480i/60 (EBU) and 480/60i. 480i is usually used in countries that conventionally use NTSC (most of the Americas and some Asian countries), because the 525 transmitted lines at 60 hertz of analogue NTSC contain 480 visible ones.

480i can be transported by all major digital television formats, ATSC, DVB and ISDB.
