3 Deewarein (3 Walls) is a 2003 Hindi film directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, who also stars in the film alongside Jackie Shroff, Juhi Chawla, Naseeruddin Shah, and Gulshan Grover. The film bears resemblance to The Shawshank Redemption. This is because Nagesh is a big fan of the film and it's had a deep impact on his filmmaking style. According to Nagesh himself, "It has the perfect script, virtually flawless performances, a great, great background score... perfect editing".[1]
[edit] Plot
Three men are on death row. Jaggu (Jackie Shroff), a lawyer and a poet, is arrested for murdering his wife because she was cheating on him with another man. Nagya (Nagesh Kukunoor), a man angry with the whole world, is arrested for murdering his wife, too, but although he claims he didn't do it because he said she fell off the sidewalk while they were talking. Ishaan (Naseeruddin Shah), a happy-go-lucky who lives to be free, is also arrested for murdering, but this time it was during the robbery and he shot the banker when he fell down. Their custodian is Mohan (Gulshan Grover), who is a nice police officer. A documentary filmmaker named Chandrika (Juhi Chawla) comes to the jail to set a film about these three men to escape her abusive husband and her painful past.
