| Q. | What can we do in Vancouver BC on June 2nd for a Bachelor party? | Related Search: Vancouver | | | A group of 8 guys are heading down to Vancouver BC on June 2nd(Sat) to have a bachelor party. We are good looking guys in our mid to late 20s and love to go wild and crazy. Our budget is around $1000 for one day including a hotel room
Any help is greatly apreciated!
| | A. | I stayed at the Howard Johnson downtown vancouver for about 110$ canadian. There are a lot of clubs to go dancing. If you plan on drinking make sure you get there early, all the bars stop serving around midnight. They quit letting people into the clubs also. It can be expensive to go "clubbin" with a bunch of guys. If you go down to West Hastings street there is "blunt brothers" so if you guys smoke..that's the place to spark up. | | | |
| Q. | How do female and male survivorship curves differ? What causes the difference? | Related Search: Biology | | | I would think that female mortality would be greater that male mortality toward the 20s(bc of child-bearing)... am i right? and what are other differences and causes?
| | A. | Women tend to have a lower mortality rate at every age. In the womb, male fetuses have a higher mortality rate (babies are conceived at a ratio of about 124 males to 100 females, but the ratio of those surviving to birth is only 105 males to 100 females). Among the smallest premature babies (those under 2 pounds) females again have a higher survival rate. At the other extreme, about 90% of individuals aged 110 are female.
In the past, mortality rates for females in child-bearing age groups were higher than for males at the same age. This is no longer the case, and female human life expectancy is considerably higher than those of men. The reasons for this are not entirely certain. Traditional arguments tend to favor socio-environmental factors: historically, men have generally consumed more tobacco, alcohol and drugs than females in most societies, and are more likely to die from many associated diseases such as lung cancer, tuberculosis and cirrhosis of the liver. Men are more likely to die from injuries, whether unintentional (such as car accidents) or intentional (suicide, violence, war). Men are also more likely to die from most of the leading causes of death (some already stated above) than women. Some of these in the United States include: cancer of the respiratory system, motor vehicle accidents, suicide, cirrhosis of the liver, emphysema, and coronary heart disease. These far outweigh the female mortality rate from breast cancer and cervical cancer, etc.
However, such arguments are not entirely satisfactory and, even if the statistics are corrected for known socio-environmental effects on mortality, females still have longer life expectancy. Interestingly, the age of equalization (about 13) tends to be close to the age of menarche, suggesting a potential reproductive-equilibrium explanation.
Some argue that shorter male life expectancy is merely another manifestation of the general rule, seen in all mammal species, that larger individuals tend on average to have shorter lives. This biological difference occurs because women have more resistance to infections and degenerative diseases.
However, many do not agree that there is a difference and there is reason to suspect that this varies over a period of time and that gender is not a significant correlator of living longer.
| Q. | Who decided BC's age of majority should be a 19 rather than 18? | Related Search: Law & Ethics | | | I can vote (decide my own future) but I can't gamble (buy a scratch ticket), I can legally have sex with a 40 yr old woman but I can't get a cell phone plan (sign a binding contract). Can anyone tell me why this ISN'T ludicrous? What happens in that extra year that makes me more mature than I already am? It's obvious that most adolescents will never completely be adults and that mental adulthood is most likely reached in the mid to late 20s, so we can throw the whole "not mature enough" bit out the window since you are not likely to find any difference at all in the way an 18 year old behaves as opposed to a 19 year old. So what is the reason for this discrepancy?
Further adding to the idiocy of all this is that if I lived in, say, Golden, BC I would be in the same situation but if I moved 140km down the road to banff, BAM all the rights of a legal adult at my disposal. So once again, why are we the only country in the world that has this level of discrepancy?
The title should say "....should be 19...."
It's not the age itself that bothers me, hell it could even be 20 for all I care. As long as the age of majority was unified nationwide and I wouldn't have to keep waiting year after year to be given additional rights (ie driving, then voting, then everything else), I would be happy. I could say with certainty that on that day I could buy tobacco, gamble, vote, drink, etc.
| | A. | It should be 25 | | | |
| Q. | best place to live in vancouver, bc for young adults? | Related Search: Vancouver | | | My friend and I are both in our 20s and thinking about moving to vancouver. We just don't know what area is best for us? We love going out to concert(indie music) love shopping, && going out to bars!!
Somewhere affordable and nice. Preferably somewhere we can meet people are age.
| | A. | Downtown can be expensive but West end and yaletown would be very close to shopping, bars etc..
Outside of downtown there are some cool neighbourhoods, you can access downtown very easily and quickly from these areas but they have a lot going on themselves.
Kits - by the beach, lots of bars, restaurants, shops.
South Main street (the part of main street above broadway, not downtown) -this area is up and coming, lots of restaurants, cafes and more opening up all the time.
Commercial drive which is kind of a hippy area, again plenty of bars, shops and always something going on here. Its a bit further out than the other 2 but it has a skytrain station so only takes 10 mins to get to downtown.
| Q. | when should I start taking BC if...? | Related Search: Women's Health | | | when should i start taking BC before the first time i have sex? i heard it should be a month before u start having sex but i wanna be sure some say even 2 months is better
i dont think condoms are good idea because they can break
im old enough in my 20s and this is a long term relationship
| | A. | well when i was really young my mom told me i should get on birth control as soon as i could...well she said when i turned 15 or 16. it couldve been because she didnt want me to become sexually active and end up preg or i think i remember her saying because of something that ran in our family or somthing. but i was told also if i started it just to take it, sexually active or not, it would be great to make me more regular on my periods cuz ive always been irregular. so thats a plus. but anyways to REALLY answer you question i think it depends on the kind of bcp you are prescribed because the kind i was prescribed, i was told it would take 3 months before it would take effect or something...i cant remember. but i would just say when you talk to a dr bout gettin a bcp just ask him/her how long they think you should wait. and read your information packet on the pill you get. also, remember...just bc ur on the pill doesnt mean theres still not a chance of pregnancy and also its safe to use a condom to watch for stds and stis. be careful and wish you luck in a happy relationship. | | | |
