| Q. | airport security? | Related Search: Air Travel | | | it's my first time on a plane and i'm a little nervous about airport security. i know they have a rule about having only 3 oz. of liquid in your carry on. i was just wondering if it would be okay to have my liquid foundation in my purse even if my purse isn't going in my carry on bag. it has metal on it so i figured it would set off alarms.
| | A. | You are going to have to send all your metal things through the Xray machine or end up standing with your arms out looking foolish while they pass the Wand over your bod. here is the rule and the web site for carry on information.
check everything that you don't need. Most drug stores like Savon or Rite aid have travel size toiletries. use those and if they confiscate them no big deal. However; here is the rule.
3-1-1 for carry-ons = 3 ounce bottle or less; 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag; 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin. One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.
Consolidate bottles into one bag and X-ray separately to speed screening.
Be prepared. Each time TSA searches a carry-on it slows down the line. Practicing 3-1-1 will ensure a faster and easier checkpoint experience.
3-1-1 is for short trips. If in doubt, put your liquids in checked luggage.
here is the web site if you need more info.

This is a good site. They show pictures of how to pack etc and have much more info than I included here. Check it out.
| Q. | How does airport security work with out-of-the country fliers? | Related Search: Air Travel | | | My mom is a Peruvian citizen, she is coming over to visit me after six years since I moved to the US. I would like to take her on a couple of domestic flights to visit relatives in other states. How does airport security work with a non-citizen flying domestically? What kind of documentation, besides a passport, should we have and what does the process entail? She is a senior citizen and I wouldn't want to have her go through a bad time due to airport officials being difficult when she is coming to have a good time.
| | A. | Airport security is actually much, much better today than it was pre 9/11. Why? Well all of the security employees are FEDERAL employees now. They are paid much better wages today than the private security we were all used to, prior to 9/11.
I have worked in commerical and corporate aviation since 1992 and I was very, very glad to see Federal screeners in place at all airports. They go through a lot more training. Like if they do have to pat you down, they HAVE TO use the back of their hands. They tell you everything they are doing, while they are doing it, it is done in a very respectful manner.
To make things easier for your mother, I would suggest the following tips.
1) remove any and all metal and just have it in a carry on, and not on you or your mom. For me, I take off my belt, I don't have ANY change in my pockets, nothing metal that will alert the walk-thru metal detector.
2) Have you ID out with your airline ticket once you get to the screening section, make it ready to hand to the agent who needs to see it. For your mom, all she would need is her passport and ticket ready.
3) My suggestion is that you go through first. Once you are on the other side, you can state your concerns to the agent who is standing there about your mother if you see fit. Why this way? Well, if they know you have cleared security then you are SAFE, and not a threat. Your mother can then walk through to you and the agent.
4) Tell your mom in advance what to expect. When you fly domestically, often times you have to remove your shoes or boots. I think she will feel much better knowing what they are doing beforehand.
Lastly, just remember these Federal screeners are very, very professional. Since they changed from private to federal, I have to say the level of service has amazed me. A lot of Americans will complain about the time it takes to get through... but if everyone had their ID ready, ticket ready, and had thought that morning about what metal they might have on them that would slow the process down, things would not be slowed down for the rest of us.
I am sure she will be fine and have a great time!
| Q. | How do I get airport security reforms? | Related Search: Law Enforcement & Police | | | I have a metal replacement knee and now I always fail airport security. I wear shorts and short sleeve polo-shirts & I still need to be frisk. If I weren't so modess I would strip completely. You can't wear shoes thru security - heck I can see it now some idiot will upset airport security by wearing cloths that are a weapon in disguise and now we all need not worry about being modess, we all can walk around the airport with either dangling boobs or wee-wees.
| | A. | My Dad has both knees replaced. When he travels, it's always funny to see if they're going to "catch on" to his game. He never tells them about his knees until they start getting upset. | | | |
| Q. | How would the airport security check for marijuana? | Related Search: Air Travel | | | Me and a friend are planning to go to Amsterdam. As with any stoner, we want to bring back a few grams, (not much, about 5-10). I've heard of places you can put them and stuff but what are the chances of us getting caught at airport security if we stash them way away in our suitcase? Would they be able to detect it anyways if you walk through the detector or the suitcase scan? (like if its in coffee or deoderant or something?)
| | A. | Don't do it, you go straight to jail if you get caught with that in an airport! | | | |
| Q. | How do I get through airport security with nipple piercings? | Related Search: Other - Beauty & Style | | | If my nipples are pierced, and it is metal jewelry. How do I get through airport security without setting off the alarm? Do I have to take them out- I am worried about them closing up. Also, is there a different jewelry that cannot be detected? Maybe plastic or something. Anyone have any ideas?
| | A. | You can try a plastic piercing, or take it out only while you are clearing customs. I am assuming you don't want to beep at security becuse you don't want your parents finding out? Maybe I'm wrong, but if that's the case then you can go to the bathroom right before customs and take it out, and then before you board the plane (or right after take-off) use the washroom and put it back in. If it isn't parents you're worried about then just go through, sometimes a piercing won't set it off. You can also do the 'parent' suggestion even if that isn't the case, just to maintain your privacy. Put the piercings in a little ziploc bag in your purse while you go through, they won't close that quickly. I travel through the USA en route to Latin America every year (usually through Dallas, Miami, or Houson) and have set detectors off about 50% of the time, sometimes they just don't pick up on such a small amount. If they do pick it up, well, you can ask to be taken to a private room to show them it is only a piercing, but this may slow down the process of you getting on the plane so be early if you're prepared for this! Good luck! | | | |
| Q. | what can I expect from airport security when I travel out of the country next week? | Related Search: Air Travel | | | I haven't gone through airport security since they implemented the new security regulations. I will be leaving from LAX next week, what can I expect?

| Q. | How much more secure can airport security get? | Related Search: Air Travel | | | Does anyone think that the security measures at the airports have gone too far? I know some of the United States airports have the same security measures such as the see thru bags with the gels or aresols, taking off your shoes, blouse, belt and placing your carryons in the machine, etc. How much more secure can it get? Pretty soon they are going to prohibit no carryons but just your wallet and medication. The worst is at the UK airports. They are prohibiting taxis and cars from driving anywhere near the terminals to drop people off or pick them up for the flights. The person flying has to take the subway, train or buses of the airport system. What' s next ?Someone bombs an airport parking lot with explosives on a bus and then everyone has to walk to the airports for their flights?
| | A. | Better be safe than sorry. Did you see what happen in Glassgow?. 4 crazy Arab doctos decided to test their vehicle (loaded with bombs) at the airport.
What do you recommend they do?. Do nothing?. Only stop Arabs & get sued for discrimination?. Yes at times, I feel airport security is too tight but then every so often an incident happens to make me reconsider, maybe 10 minutes more at the check in is not so bad if it deters terrorist from getting thru.
You have a problem, but you do not come up with a reasonable solution.
Its like saying the problem with illegal immigration in the West is related to the countries policy when the real reason is why do these countries allow their people to flee & what are they doing to improve the problem.
